Callie was another drop-off in a shelter night-drop box. She came in filthy and matted, with a huge bald hotspot on her rump. You can see her condition in the other two photos posted here. She cleaned up very nicely! Callie is currently going through tests at the vet to try to determine the cause of the hair loss and some questionnable values in her bloodwork. |

Callie is beautiful. Where is she located? Perhaps her hair loss is due to SA (sebaceous adenitis). If so, there is a yahoo group for owners of SA dogs: there is a wealth of information on it, and I am a member, since our Sammy, Squirt had SA. Most of us on the website have used alternative protocols to deal with the symptoms: for me, Dr. Rod Rosychuk, CSU Vet Teaching Hospital is the expert on SA treatments. CSU is located in Ft.Collins, CO. We used oil soaks, acupuncture, Chinese herbs, homeopathic herbs, and even melatonin to deal with Squirt's symptoms with much success. At one time, he had very little hair, but with the treatments, we re-grew both the guard coat and undercoat. We lost him to cancer last December, but it was not SA related. Hope this will help you to help Callie. Sincerely, Judy Loudin Cheyenne, WY
