We are shopping around for insurance and I'm hoping I can get opinions from everybody here about which ones to avoid and which ones you have had a good experience with. thanks.

Hi Allen,

NISA went to Doerfler agency in Homewood when Sportsman terminated all rescue coverage. They seem to have decent rates and ample coverage, however we did move on to a company in Lockport. I too, had been asking around and got a good referral from the Akita rescue to try Likar Insurance so that's who we have now. It's not cheap by any means but the agent we have owns the company and I really like her. Our policy for 2 Million runs $2068. per year and we have a D&O policy that runs another $ 500 to 700. Each event that NISA hosts requires a certificate of Insurance and I think they run $150. each. Our utility trailer runs about $200 per year.

It costs a lot but in this day and age one has to be very careful and ample insurance is a must regardless of what line of business you're in. Which reminds me, my obedience training insurance will be due soon.

Good luck!

Sarah,

How do I look up Heartford Insurance? Do you know their website?
We're looking at Kennel Pak, their rates seem to be decent, but I
want to look at as many companys as possible.

Thanks,

Sue

We have Kennel Pak and from what I understand, it's underwritten by Hartford. We're paying approx $800 a year for $1 million in coverage. Don't know any other details since I don't handle the insurance stuff for our group.
