What the heck are avatars?
Avatars are the small picture that go under your name. I have a picture of Ullr up for mine. If you're familiar with any of the photo editing softwares, that's what you use to turn any picture you've got into an avatar. There also are sites to make some that look like cartoon characters of yourself, etc. I'll look some of those sites up and post the links here.
I need to play with the sizes a bit and get them set. If they're too big, it'll take those on dial up longer to download pages. The one I use is sized to be no more than 50 pixels wide or tall. When you're working on it, it will look very pixelized, and that's ok. It comes out on the board just fine.
If you aren't familiar with how to size photos, send me an email or PM (private message) -- look in the bottom left corner of this message -- and I'll be happy to do that for you.
Once you've got your picture done, and saved to your hard drive, then you'll need to get it up there. Go to the top of any of the pages here, and click on Profile. Scroll down to the bottom and you'll see the section on avatars and the different ways to get one up. The easiest way is to upload it from your hard drive. Click on the browse button, find the file, and click on it, then hit the submit button at the bottom. That's all there is to it! :) You can change your avatar as often as you like, or not have one at all. Completely up to you. :)
If you've got questions, you can also post them in this thread as others may have the same question. Looking forward to seeing what everyone chooses to do!
