NSR is a 501(c)(3) trust and was formed as such on the recommendation of Ed Sledzik, the SCA's CPA, whom we hired to assist in the filing process. Since the IRS did not require these items, we decided our limited time was better spent in other areas that more directly benefit rescuers. Eventually we hope to see the Samoyed Rescue politics subside enough to allow for a change in status with the IRS so NSR becomes a voting membership. The recognized rescuers, do, however, have a large say in the development of NSR.
