The NSR is attempting to provide the means for local rescuers to have additional input in our processes.
MORE LOCAL INVOLVEMENT
Representatives of a few of our already recognized rescue group were invited to participate in and provide input in our special meeting on July 20. We will be instating a more formalized process for this to include representatives from all recognized rescuers to help us in our service to them.
REVISING THE APPLICATION PROCESS
One of our recognized rescuers has suggested a means to change our application from an Application for Benefits to an Application for Recognition. This will help clarify to the public that being listed by the NSR requires that certain standards of quality have been met. To receive other benefits over and above the ones that go with this recognition, rescuers will need to complete a short Request for Benefits Application. This would then be a form to basically express what they need. We will need more time to closely examine this, but we are very pleased to have this suggestion that appears to cover all the legal aspects!
HELP WITH THE APPLICATION
All members of the NSR board are willing to help any rescuer with filling out the initial application over the phone. We will be happy to “fill in the blanks” for you, and in the process, answer any questions you may have as to why specific questions are being asked on the application.
These are examples of how we are incorporating recognized rescuers in the process of developing and driving the direction of NSR. Other ideas to facilitate this type of communication are also being worked upon.
National Samoyed Rescue does not actively rescue dogs, that is not our purpose. Our mission statement is on the index page of our website. We are here to serve and support rescuers who wish to have support and showcase them and their incredible work in the forefront while NSR itself hopes to operate more in the background. At the moment fundraising is a main activity that is needed to provide the type of assistance most highly requested by rescuers at this point. Ideally, in the future, rescuers will all have enough in their own accounts so this will not be as pressing of a need and will thus allow NSR to focus more on the other aspects of rescue. We do anticipate, however, that fundraising help and requests for grants and subsidies will always be needed in some capacity.
