In Memory Of
Gary Renaud
Samoyed Rescue has lost a great friend. Unfortunately on October 8, 2007
Gary Renaud lost his fight against cancer. He has gone to find Coco, Cami and Katrina.
Gary Renaud was a longtime listmember on the SamFans Internet discussion list. He obtained his Samoyeds from Arizona Samoyed Rescue, and worked closely with that Rescue. He posted often about the adventures of his dogs (in sequence) Coco, Katrina, Camilla, Sadie, and Alaska, and list members shared his sadness in the unexpected passing of Coco (and thanked Gary for the lessons learned), and the process of adopting and adapting to Katrina, and Camilla, and the stories of their illnesses and passing. In honor of Gary Renaud, Sadie and Alaska, and in memory of Katrina, Camilla and Coco, SamFans offers a reproduction of the original Samfans Logo "Tripper" shirt, with all proceeds to be donated to Arizona Samoyed Rescue. "Tripper" was the Samoyed of one of the original early list members, who had a tipped ear (you'll find him on the design!).

In Memory of June Wagner
Long time friend and supporter of Samoyed rescue
On July 23, 2007, Samoyed rescue lost a long-time friend and supporter. Above are photos of June taken while she worked the dog wash for Pure Pet at the SCA National Specialty in Topeka, KS.
I met June at the 2002 National Specialty in Riverside, CA. I coordinated the rescue booth at that National, my first time doing so. June came by the rescue booth and introduced herself as the Pure Pet representative for the dog wash. She let me know that she would be bringing by donations from the dog wash every day, as well as providing us products to sell at the booth. I had the opportunity to work with June again in Topeka, where we worked closely together staffing the dog wash. June spent long hours doing set up, restock, fix-up, and clean-up of the dog wash area at many SCA National Specialties. She always made sure a collection box was at the wash area and every day she'd bring the money to the rescue booth. She was dedicated to her chosen breed and to rescue. June had a wonderful heart and a great sense of humor. I'm glad to have had the opportunity to know her.

******************************************************************
Hello all. The Samoyed breed lost a good friend on Monday, July 23, when our dear friend Alice "June" Wagner passed away due to cancer.
June loved Sammies and had owned a couple in her younger years, before we met her. When we met her in 1990, she was wanting to add a male Sammy to her life, after being without one for at least 10 years. So she patiently waited and we were able to give her a darling male Sammy pup in the Spring of 1992.
From that pup, she began showing and finished 2 champions - one a Tega, one a Grand River. When she passed away, she had a lovely young Samkota bitch, whom she loved very, very much. June thoroughly enjoyed all the Sammy people that she met along the way, in her 15 years of showing and being active in Sammy clubs.
For those of you who may not know her well, June was also the gal that helped out at the Sammy National Dog Washes for PurePet. June really loved doing this and, we want you all to know, that meeting all of you other Sammy fanciers from all areas of the country and your beautiful dogs brought her great joy in her life. The week she spent at each National were some of the happiest moments of her life.
June was a great champion of the Samoyed. She loved everything about the breed and would sing its praises to anyone who was willing to listen. June Wagner, she will be missed.
Blessed be,
Gail and Terry at Tega

In Memory of John Harsch
Recently, John Harsch lost his life in an effort to save his dogs. Both dogs recovered but John did not survive
the icy waters. This is what Minuteman Samoyed Club had to say about John:
Minuteman Samoyed Club
Bulletin
April 2005
Long time Minuteman Samoyed Club member has passed on to the Rainbow Bridge...
MSC President Helen Sullivan stated: "John did most of the home visits in the Cape Cod, South Shore
area for MSC rescue. He never said no to any of my requests. He always had time."
IN MEMORY OF "JOHN WADE HARSCH"
I first met David & John at a show which they had their first show dog in
"Mikki"... From there on in, we took to each other right away. It was mostly
David interested in the showing at the time but as I handled Mikki to his
championship John quickly got drawn in and it didn't take him long to obtain
a Sammy of his own. I had introduced them to Donna Glickman of Snokrest
Samoyeds as she had a litter, they went to go look at the litter and this one dog
stood out in John's eyes and he had to have him which was "Rocky"
(CH. SnoKrest's Seasand Rocket Man) his pride and joy.
Rocky was the apple of John's eye and once he got him, he was bitten by the dog show bug... Rocky
went on to make John so proud getting his championship by taking Best of Breed out of the classes
over group winning specials. I remember the look in John's eyes that day of how proud he was of his
dog and all his accomplishments.
David & John belong to the Cape Cod Kennel Club as well as MSC and SCA and the most proudest I
have ever seen him was when Rocky took a Group 2 that day, his mother and father showed up to support
him, which John was ecstatic about and could not stop giving his dog the well deserved praise or
talking about it every chance he got.
I will surely miss the competitiveness of John, which kept me going. I mostly will miss his friendship
and the bond he had with his dogs. He was a friend. As a breeder, we search and hope for homes and
people to love these dogs we breed as much as we do, I would have not have had it any other way of
someone like this owning one of my dogs, these dogs were his pets, friends and life before show dogs.
John, risked his life trying to save his dogs from drowning that day, and he passed away with Rocky at
his side, and by some miracle Rocky survived. I will always be grateful and proud to have known such
a brave soul that would give up his life for his dogs.
I will miss you John as well as we all will and just hope you know that your life, that you sacrificed for
your dogs, kept them alive. They will miss your loving heart, your long walks and your gentle touch. I
am sure they know you are still beside them taking them on their long walks and they still feel your
gentle touch and loving heart and know you are there watching over them still. My heart goes out to
his brother David and family. We surely will miss him.
May you see the light of the silver tips up there and take care of each and everyone of them and let
them know that it will be okay, and we, as their masters, promise to come take them on their long
walks again one day.
Thank You John Harsch, thank you for being you. We'll truly miss you.

To John Wade Harsch, Minuteman will truly be lacking without you.
Sammy smiles to you forever.
